Our History
The Angels Abroad Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, embarked on its first mission in the summer of 2018. We launched our inaugural program with six students, taking them on an enriching journey to Honduras. The goal was simple yet profound: provide disadvantaged Title I high school students from Metro Atlanta with a cost-free, life-changing experience abroad.
The impact of our program on these initial participants speaks volumes about its transformative potential. One of our first six students has already graduated from college with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. Two others completed trade school, aided by our program, and now work as apprentice electricians. Two are currently enrolled in college, pursuing degrees in Construction Engineering & Construction Science and Agricultural Systems, respectively. And the last of this pioneering group joined the United States Air Force, where he is pursuing a civil engineering degree while serving his country.
In 2019, we expanded our program from one week to three weeks. This expansion was fueled by our founder's vision to invest further in our students. Before setting off on their adventure, all students received OSHA 10 certification. We also partnered with a local general contractor to expose our students to various roles within the construction industry. This practical learning venture concluded with presentations on the last Friday, nurturing both knowledge and self-confidence.
Unfortunately, the global pandemic hit just as our foundation was gaining popularity among students citywide. A waiting list of 347 students from Title I schools was left in limbo. Some of these students graduated during the pandemic, missing out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But we are undeterred and continue to work tirelessly to secure funds and volunteers to ensure that as many students as possible can benefit from our program before Summer 2025. Our ambitious goal is to take four groups of 45 students each on our mission trips.
At Angels Abroad Foundation, we believe that every building starts with a strong foundation. By focusing on children who are often overlooked, we aim to inspire change and instill a humanitarian spirit. Our overseas missions give students the chance to serve foreign communities, assisting construction professionals, building homes, and renovating schools for the less fortunate.
We offer a unique educational experience in a safe, exciting, and authentic learning environment. Here, students can apply their STEM skills while gaining practical knowledge about the construction industry. We firmly believe that by giving teenagers the opportunity to make a difference in impoverished communities around the world, we are not only creating future leaders in the construction and engineering industry but also nurturing future humanitarians. At Angels Abroad Foundation, we are building more than structures; we are building hope, dreams, and leaders.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
