With a robust career spanning 15 years, Catina Anderson has made her mark in the construction industry as an accomplished leader. Her experience encompasses commercial, healthcare, and development construction, including roles such as Assistant Project Manager in Construction Development, Project/Field Engineer in Commercial/Healthcare, and Mechanical/Commercial/Healthcare Construction Estimator. Throughout these roles, she has worked on a diverse range of projects, from higher education, hospitality, retail, and healthcare to ground-up construction, managing multi-million-dollar budgets with precision and expertise.
Currently serving as an Ambassador for the Associated General Contractors of America National Convention, Catina also holds the position of Director of Pre-Construction for a commercial general contractor. She recently stepped into a new role as a Strategic Sourcing Real Estate/Construction Manager at Home Depot Headquarters USA.
While scaling the heights of her construction career, Catina felt a yearning to give back to the community. This led her to engage with high school students and first-year college attendees, introducing them to the vast opportunities within the construction industry.
A mission trip to Honduras was a defining moment for Catina. She noticed the scarcity of minorities and young women who had access to such experiences. Inspired by Gandhi's words to "Be the change you wish to see in the world", she decided to make a difference. Instead of urging existing organizations to consider students from low-income communities, she founded Angels Abroad, an organization dedicated primarily to empowering these students.
Angels Abroad was born from Catina's first mission trip to Honduras in March 2018, where she built solar panel arrays for an underserved community. These panels played a crucial role in providing cleaner water and increased water pressure to 37 homes. In July 2018, Catina led her first group of six students on a mission trip to Honduras. She funded this trip with her own income and savings. This defining moment solidified her decision to intertwine her profession with her passion, creating a unique platform for change.
Henry serves as a Preconstruction Executive for Southland Industries. Prior to his current role, he served
as the Sheet Metal General Superintendent for 13 years, and approximately 34 years as a Union Sheet Metal Worker with Local 104 in northern California. He’s been very instrumental with building partnerships with organizations that have pre-apprenticeship programs in the Bay Area, like City Build in San Francisco and Rising Sun Center for Opportunity in Oakland, along with several others. Henry is a strong advocate for mentoring and giving everyone a fair shot at success, regardless of their
background.
He is the current Chair for AGC’s National Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee and has served on the committee since its inception, where he has helped develop initiatives designed to support, educate and promote a diverse and inclusive culture for AGC member companies. Henry’s approach to the complexity of the current climate is one of calm, courage and commitment. He is a consistent voice of reason even in the worst of times and is not afraid to have uncomfortable conversations that have the potential to bring about positive change.
As the former Sheet Metal General Superintendent, Henry was responsible for over 200 Sheet Metal Workers during his tenure and led Lean implementations on projects throughout Northern California on Southland projects. Henry’s strategy of field support included a mixture of a “boots on the ground” type of an approach, combined with informal relationship building. This has always been key to his success.
Henry is also a part of a newly formed D&I Task Force for AGC California designed to make recommendations or new policy and procedures in the coming years for member companies.
